SUMMARY:A Brickmaker's Tale - The Next Generation
DESCRIPTION:Tony Minter will talk about his specialist brick company\, The Bulmer Brick and Tile Company near Sudbury. \nBrick making is listed as ‘endangered’ by the Heritage Craft Red List\, despite having a huge role in our historic built environment. Join us for an introduction to the process of hand-brickmaking as performed at Bulmer Brick and Tile\, a family-run traditional brickyard on the Suffolk-Essex border. We will follow this by exploring how the craft has contributed to various repair and restoration projects around East Anglia\, and how these projects have themselves expanded our understanding of the process and history of hand-brickmaking. \n[Photographs courtesy of Jessie-Anita Photography]
