The Kennett Valley
The Kennett Valley comprises Alluvium, Peat and River Terrace Deposits of the River Kennet, Chippenham Fen and the River Snail. It is underlain by Zig Zag and Holywell Chalk. It adjoins the Lode Apron and Fen Edge. The elevation ranges from 5 to 40m OD.
The Peat and clay-rich soils are often poorly drained, but there are well-drained soils on River Terrace Gravels. There are no geological SSSI and one LGS, Isleham Lime Kilns. Chippenham Fen is a NNR.
